Guidance on Completing Your Application

This page provides advice and guidance that will help you complete the online application form. Please read this page in full before continuing with your application as you will need to provide information about:

You can save and exit from your application at any time, and you will be able to log back in by using the username and password you selected on the initial page. Each time you save your application, you will be sent an email which contains a link you can use to take you back to the log-in screen – it is important to keep a copy of this email, as it is the easiest way to return to your application.

Personal Details Page

This page will ask you to confirm your contact details, and will also ask a series of questions about you and your application.

Qualifications Page

Please provide details of all relevant qualifications:

You will also be asked to provide details of any other training, language skills, IT competencies or Professional Body Memberships (including any professional body identification / membership number or reference) that will support your application.

You may find it useful to have your certificates and transcripts available so that you can check the details as you complete your application.

English Language Qualification Page

All UWE applicants are required to provide evidence of their English language competency. You will be asked to provide details of any formal English language qualifications you have achieved or are preparing to undertake; this could include GCSE, Scottish Higher, Irish Leaving Certificate, IELTS, TOEFL or another recognised English language qualification. Please refer to English Language requirements for more information.

Note that direct international applicants will also need to answer some questions regarding their visa application.

Employment Page

Provide details of any current or previous employment you would like considered in support of your application and which demonstrates skills and experience relevant to your chosen programme of study.

Additional Information Page

Provide additional information you would like considered in support of your application. This is your opportunity to tell us in more detail why you want to study this programme and might include, for example:

University Admissions Officers will read this additional information for evidence of an understanding of, and commitment to, your chosen programme of study and it is therefore a very important part of the admissions process.

You also have the opportunity to apply for another UWE programme. If you chose this option, you will be asked to complete a second additional information section in support of that programme.

Referees Page (if applicable)

Provide the names, addresses and emails of two referees. At least one referee should be able to comment on your academic / professional ability and you should not use family members or friends as referees. The University will require references to progress your application.

If you provide email addresses, we will contact your referees directly to request a reference. If you do not provide email addresses, you MUST arrange for your referees to complete and send a reference to the Admissions Office. A reference sheet [PDF] (opens in new window) is available for you to download. Please complete your personal details and then pass the reference sheet to your referees for completion. The references should be returned directly to the Admissions Office, or you can attach the documents electronically to this application form on the Supporting Documentation page.

Supplementary Questions Page

The last page of the application form will ask you a series of questions. Your answers will not be used when considering your application; they will be used only to provide you with the correct information about tuition fees or for the University to monitor equal opportunities.

Supporting Documentation Page

You will have the opportunity to attach a maximum of six 4MB documents to this application, and these documents can be in the following formats: Microsoft Word files, JPEG, GIF, PDF, MPEG. The University will require certain documents to progress your application, and these include:

If you can provide these documents electronically with your application, this will speed up the progression of your application. If you do not have these documents available electronically, you must arrange to send copies to the Admissions Office

Submitting Your Application

When you have completed your application, you can submit your application to UWE by clicking the ‘Submit’ button on the last page. Please note that once you have submitted your application, you will not be able to amend any of the details you have entered via the online application. Please contact the Admissions Office to inform us of any changes.
